Champions of Red Bull Levels

On the 21st of February Red Bull merged two native livelihoods to create a never-before-seen obstacle course built in the ocean that pushed each team to the limit, by combining the art of stilt fishing & toddy tapping, in a timed relay.
This challenge pushed teams of four, to maneuver from toddy tapping tightropes to fishing stilts ranging from 4ft, 5ft, 6ft, 8ft and finally 10ft in testing conditions. Adding to the challenge, each team member at each stilt had to fish for a marker from the rising tides and place it in a pouch before moving on to the next stilt, all within a set time frame.

A total of 37 teams, ranging from students to working professionals, tackled the course from morning till sunset, pushing them to the limit! They raced from stilt to stilt, precariously balancing on the tightropes over the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean in a true display of intensity, determination and competitive spirit.

The event was aired live on Yes FM who transported their studio to the beach of Bentota, providing coverage and live updates of the event.

Ultimately team ‘A 350’ representing Sri Lankan Airlines comprised of Aravinda Aluthwatta, Ms. Sujitha Silva, L D H Manjula and Nuwan Darshana emerged victorious to be crowned champions of the first ever Red Bull Levels! ‘A 350’ said “It was pretty difficult at first but once we got the hang of it, we as a team were able to come up with a strategy to push ourselves to the finish line. This is undoubtedly the toughest challenge we have ever faced and we are so thrilled to have won the very first Red Bull Levels. It’s amazing how Red Bull has put together these two native livelihoods to form a unique and a novel experience.”

The event was held at Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, Bentota Beach Hotel which provided a beautiful setting to host this unique event.
